Dancing...

Will focus on dances from different regions of Ghana and will include a breakdown of specific steps and techniques for the varying cultural styles.

You will be taught the history of the old folkloric dances and how they have pervaded today’s contemporary moves. Over the course of the tour you will gain a profound appreciation of the regions dance forms and develop a strength and stamina that comes from "repetition". You will also get to incorporate the traditional costumes and dance props that are typical to the different dances.

This healing artform energisers the body, motivates the mind and frees the spirit.

Leading the dance instruction will be Aku, lead performer with Ghana's National Theatre ensemble "Dance Factory". Aku has toured Australia with Wala and has had extensive experience performing and teaching throughout Europe. Aku is supported by 6 male and female principal dancers from cultuaral group "Salaka"
