Dancing
We will focus on dances from different regions of Ghana and include a breakdown of specific steps and techniques for the varying cultural styles.
You will be taught the history of the old folkloric dances and how they have pervaded today’s contemporary moves. Over the course of the tour you will gain a profound appreciation of the regions dance forms and develop a strength and stamina that comes from repetition. You will also get to incorporate the traditional costumes and dance props that are typical to the different dances.
This healing artform energisers the body, motivates the mind and frees the spirit.
Leading the dance instruction will be Alima, Arku, Lucky and Sammy. Renowned International touring artists, they are supported by 6 male and female principal dancers from cultural group "Salaka". The Dance classes will be accompanied by live drumming by our master drummers, so that the dancers understand the relationship between the drum soloists calls and the dance steps that accompany them.
